How to create partitions in hard drive?

When we get a new hard disk or get a new PC or Laptop by default we have only C drive as our storage. So, we need to create new partitions or volumes.
Yet, it one of the easiest tasks in the Windows environment, but many of us fear it because of losing data or maybe some fears of hard disk failure.
But here I'm gonna explain so that anyone can easily do the disk partition easily without any fear.

Create a new drive from Unallocated space

  • Right-click on my computer and select manage or type diskmgmt.msc in run

  • Just Right click on unallocated space and select new simple volume.

  • Click next, select volume size, and again click next.

  • Assign a drive letter and click next, don't use A & B.

  • Select format this disk with the following settings. (File system should be NTFS).

Shrink space from Volume

It's used when we need to get out some space from the drive which has a huge amount of space.
For this just go through...
  • Right-click on my computer and select manage or enter diskmgmt.msc in run command.
  • Right-click on volume from which you want to shrink space and select shrink.
  • Here enter the space you want to shrink it should be in a megabyte.
  • Here you will see that that size of available shrink space & amount of space to shrink will be equal. You have to choose according to your need and hit ok

Extend Space of  Volume
Sometime when our disk space is full & we need to extend our volume size,we can extend our volume size from unallocated space. If you don't have unallocated space then just shrink some space from another volume then use extend.
  • Right-click on the drive in which you want to add more space and select extend volume, click Next and select the size of the volume you want to add.

Here you will see that the maximum available space & select amount of space will be equal, which means total available unallocated space. you can use all of that if you don't need to create another volume.
  • Then click next & finish.

Change drive letter

  • Right-click on my computer and select manage or enter diskmgmt.msc in run command.
  • Right-click on the drive you want to change drive letter and select change drive letter & paths.

  • Click on change and select the drive letter you want & click OK.
