Do we really need to safely remove Flash Drives?

Not always but sometime insecure removing your flash drives may harm your data & drive too.

This one of those question which people never care about. My mind goes with this because last day i found my USB corrupted and as I'm thinking the reason behind that was insecure removing USB.
Now if we really need to remove our flash drives safely then the question is this, Why we need to do this?Lets have a look....

Just imagine you are working on a particular file in your Flash drive & once you have done your work and you clicked on save while it was saving you removed drive because you thought that the file was saved. and you have seen that USB does'n appear to be in use, but it may still be in use.May be a program in the background is still writing to the drive.

This is because of write cashing. Means when we think that our  drive  is not in use right now, that's actually under working for bit millisecond.

But Windows allows us to optimize our USB device for quick removal or improved performance.

By default, Windows optimizes USB devices for quick removal. To understand this just insert a USB drive follow the steps....

  • Just right click on My computer or This PC and go to manage.
  • Then go to device manager > Disk drives.
  • Here you will see your Flash drive just double click on that and go to policy.

This will show you how you need to optimize your USB. if you choose better performance then always you need to safely remove your Flash drive.

That means you can remove your drive drive without ejecting safely, but before doing this always ensure that you have successfully closed that program & none of the other program is using that.Else you can face the data corruption or  hardware damage.
